A journey of self-discovery

Type A/E post, mostly Type E.

Before I start though, I should let you know that I WAS planning on posting the promised Type C flood today (now technically yesterday) since it was my birthday and all, but you know how lazy I can get. And lazyness combined with apathy got the better of me. ^^;;

But anyway, I JUST finished taking the "Belief-O-Matic" test over at Beliefnet.com, and I was QUITE surprised at the results to say the least.

For maximum amusement, I'm gonna list all of the 27 listed faiths in order of lowest percentage to highest percentage. Keep in mind that I'm a Roman Catholic by name (as mentioned in a previous post).

Ready? Here we go.

_______________________

27. Roman Catholic (16%) [Sig Note: This made me laugh so hard. "Roman Catholic by name" is an understatement apparently. XD]

26. Eastern Orthodox (16%)

25. Jehovah's Witness (22%)
[Sig Note: The higher up you get from here, the more embarassing the Roman Catholic result is, considering the fact that our entire extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, deceased grandparents, siblings both living and dead of said grandparents, etc.) was born and raised Roman Catholic.]

24. Islam (26%)
[Sig Note: Every faith that makes the Roman Catholic result more embarassing will from now on will be represented by a "chink!". Currently at two chinks! - one from this and one from number 25.]

23. Seventh Day Adventist (28%)

22. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (29%)

21. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (34%)
[Sig Note: Chink! C'mon, Mormons? >_>;]

20. Orthodox Judaism (35%)
[Sig Note: Minor chink!]

19. Bahá'í Faith (41%)

18. Hinduism (45%)
[Sig Note: Chink!]

17. Nontheist (47%)
[Sig Note: AKA "Atheist, Agnostic" - also, CHINK!]

16. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (50%)

15. Jainism (50%)

14. Sikhism (51%)

13. Orthodox Quaker (58%)
[Sig Note: Hahaha, QUAKER? Wow, that deserves an honorary minor chink! for that.]

12. Taoism (59%)
[Sig Note: Hmm, I was expecting this to be higher up.]

11. Reform Judaism (61%)
[Sig Note: Minor chink!]

10. Scientology (63%)
[Sig Note: The fucking MOTHERLOAD of chinks! - this gave me quite a shock when I found out. Still, I wouldn't touch Scientology with a ten-foot pole.]

9. New Thought (63%)

8. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (75%)
[Sig Note: Chink!, and only because of the fact that the conservative-leaning version of this got 22nd while this liberal one got 8th.]

7. Theravada Buddhism (78%)

6. Secular Humanism (79%)

5. Mahayana Buddhism (80%)
[Sig Note: That's right, I got both Buddhism faiths on the top 10, and very close to each other. My family might see both Buddhism faiths here as chinks!, but I don't, so nyeh.]

4. Liberal Quakers (85%)
[Sig Note: Big chink!, mostly from the combination of "liberal" and "Quaker" appearing so high up. Also, I need to start investigating on what the hell "conservative" and "liberal" mean so that I can finally find out what the hell I am (hoping for conservative since apparently "liberals = t3h 3v1l!!").]

3. New Age (94%)

2. Unitarian Universalism (95%)

1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
[Sig Note: My reaction to this? "WHAT??!!" Honestly, Neo-Pagan? Um, I'm not much into rituals thank-you-very-much. Although it's not actually as bad as the name implies since it's more of a family of faiths than anything. Sure, Wiccan is there - but so is neo-Native American. Neo-Pagan is apparently "an umbrella term for various and diverse beliefs with many elements in common" according to Beliefnet. Okay, I can dig. Still, I'm giving this a big chink! since no one ever listens to my explanations anyway and since I'm supposed to be Catholic.]

_______________________

After looking at the top three's individual descriptions, I actually prefer Unitarian Universalism over Neo-Pagan. Rituals are scary.

...

I just looked up both Conservatism and Liberalism on Wikipedia (looked up Progressivism as well out of curiosity). From what I've learned, I'm taking back number 8's chink! and downgrading number 4 to a minor chink! - apparently I'm a liberal, and the common view of liberalism is DEAD WRONG. You can thank the conservatives for that. [Sig Edit: Correction: you can thank both George W. Bush AND George H.W. Bush for that. I apologize to the "sane conservatives" on that one. ^^;;]

So basically I'm a Liberal Unitarian Universalist raised as a Catholic. How odd.

I'm still a Catholic by name though. HEY EVERYBODY - I'M CATHOLIC, OKAY? >_>

I'm glad I had this conversation with all one of you. It's taken me two hours to make this post, so 'till next time! ^o^

After further consideration, I'm actually a left-libertarian apparently. Look it up on Wikipedia. :D
