2007 End-of-Year A-Log

Type A/C post

Wow, about the same exact time last year I was uploading my End-of-Year A-Log, didn't make it in time for the New York New Year, but uploaded it soon after.

This year, the same damn thing. :D

Download and listen to my 40+ minute A-Log. Unlike last year where I did it in multiple parts, Audacity let me do it straight. ^o^

...

Happy New Year to everyone at New York and the East Coast!

I promised to do this in the hard-as-fuck-to-hear A-Log (sorry about that - hehe ^^;;), so here ya go.

Self-extracting .cab file (Cabinet file) of last year's EOY A-Log.

My very first A-Log ever.

Second-ever A-Log (or maybe third-ever, I forgot), discussing X-Mas presents I eventually failed to make.

Third-ever A-Log (or second-ever, again I forgot), in which I realized just how limiting doing A-Logs in Sound Recorder really was.

BTW, I should mention about my 2007 EOY A-Log. It's hard to hear 'cause of my damn computer fan (fucking hell), and for some odd reason it cuts out the last couple of seconds (I should've said "Sig Nuka, signing off", like in last year's A-Logs). Maybe next time instead of using Audacity to convert it to mp3, I should use iTunes like I always usually do (this year's A-Log took up too much space).

Oh, and I re-uploaded all of the VH Nox songs (except Connery Submersible since I need to fix the ID3 tag on that), which I'll post on my next post tomorrow. Apparently Hotlink Files erased all of my files (sons 'a bitches). >:(

Next year will be good. Well, hopefully at least (I'm betting on that late-May-to-mid-July significant-as-hell moment that's been happening every year since three years ago).

Happy New Year to everyone, and hopefully you all are not too drunk tomorrow morning (all one of you that ever reads this). :D

- siggy

P.S.: Well well, these aren't direct-link files apparently. Fucking hell, now what? >:( Oh well, it'll have to do for now. -_-

P.P.S.: Also, it'll probably be 2008 before anyone reads this, so hopefully the hangover from last night (if you had one) wasn't too bad. If no hangover, then hopefully you didn't party too hard and now have a throbbing headache. ^^;;

T'was a swarm of beauty it was

Type C post.

Wrote this last night, just remembered to post it. :V

Late Night Invasion

I listen to the complex melody, the type of which I seem to be particularly fond of. The song itself may not be a favorite of mine, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. I sit here, late at night, much later than what my parental figures would approve of. I type these words, pondering something I had seen a few moments ago and have tried desperately to "unsee", as the denizens of the self-proclaimed "ocean of piss" of the internet say.

I have tried to "unsee" a rather peculiar image, peculiar in a sense that it was one of very few images I had ever seen that affected me in such a way that prevented me from functioning correctly the moment I saw it. Most images of that sort usually are of a particularly grotesque nature, but not this. This image was unique, in that it was the exact opposite: extraordinarily beautiful. Now, I have seen my fair share of images that showed a beauty rarely seen, but this image radiated. In fact, the aura surrounding the image was too much for me after about a minute, so after desparately trying to recover from seeing such an intense image (and failing miserably) I somehow decided to immediately leave the page containing said image in order to save myself a bit of sanity.

Luckily, I had already taken measures a while ago to forget the image. And while I have somewhat succeeded in forgetting the details, the memory of that radiating aura remains firmly in my mind.

During this typing, I for some reason repeated the playlist of songs I was listening to. It is late, and if the sleeping guard wakes up it will be the end of me (again). But the music is enjoyable, and I cannot seem to finish this. Furthermore, my mind still obsesses over the aforementioned predicament I have somehow put myself into.

If I had some sort of confidante that I could tell all without fear, I would've just told that person my situation instead of pretending to be some sort of Jules Verne or Mark Twain or Dan Brown (oh how culture affects us) or someone similar in typing these words. Sadly, I am a being of great fear and little trust, and it is a frame of mind that is nearly impossible to break without in-person confrontation. So I end these words originally meant to be some sort of non-personal story, and I leave you pondering the madness I have typed for you to see.

Whilst I hurry to escape to my bed before the guard awakens (my father for those of you who need clarification).

It's not a beam, nor is it sexy

Type D post.

I updated my X-Mas Wishlist / "Anime I'm Planning On Buying" List with my new thoughts on Blood: The Last Vampire (disappointing and too short, felt like a lost episode not a whole fucking movie) and a movie I just saw called Dead Leaves (kinda mindless, but fun as hell to watch), which had a character that reminded me of a little something known throughout the Touhou community as the Sexy Beam (originating from a Touhou doujinshi). For a little bit of info on the Sexy Beam, look at the title of this post.

Want to, but afraid to

Type B/E post.

Honestly, the only reason I'm actually posting this is because of the fact that the person in question doesn't read this. Maybe one day (or year) I'll refer this person to this post, but for now this is pretty much being posted in secret (hopefully).

I was looking around the internet and found these two blog posts.

This is what I want to do so badly.

This is why I'm so afraid to do it.

And on a related note, I found something quite some time ago that I really liked. The site is called One Sentence, and it's basically an archive of stories told in one sentence.

This one is my favorite one, for reasons I can't disclose in fear of being discovered.

For those of you paying close attention, now you know why I want to see 5 Centimeters Per Second so badly. :)

My only hope is that I don't run the risk of ruining my life by making this post. All I really want is for people to be happy. I'd try to make people happy myself, but my attempts are so horrible that I just wish I had a method of transportation (to hug them on the spot) and a way to kill my extreme shyness (I say nothing for fear of offending someone or for fear of sounding like as total dumbass or a total dick or just plain nosy).

*sigh* It's been years since I've had real emotional support, but no one reads this so it's not like I'm gonna receive it anytime soon. I only wish though...

Official X-Mas Wishlist For The Tragically Uninformed

I'm gonna update this with a post type later - I honestly don't know what it is right now (A? A/E? E? something else?).

X-Mas is coming (forgot the correct spelling of the full word - shut up), and that means that I'm gonna have to post a wish list for people to refer to in case they don't know what to give me for X-Mas (and they don't apparently). So here ya go.

Anime

Cheapness: 3/5 to 4/5 (depends on series and whether or not it's a box set)
Expected Excitement: 4/5 (average, but again depends on series)
Findability: 2/5 to 5/5 (REALLY depends on series)

Easiest and most likely to make me happy, but finding the more obscure series without using the internet will leave you with a helluva headache.

Individual Series / Movies / OVAs / etc.

5 Centimeters Per Second
Interest Rating: 6/5 (Will purchase on sight, X-Mas or not)

Official trailer for the movie is right here. I don't even know if I SHOULD put this on the list, as I'm gonna buy it the very first time I see it. Sadly, I dunno when this comes out. T_T

Edit: I just remembered something: I'm planning on buying the 3-disc Collector's Edition if I can find it, solely for the soundtrack. Honestly, it's fucking Tenmon (I have an album of his on my iPod, and holy FUCK it's good).

Akira
Interest Rating: 3.5/5

I'm VERY curious on how this movie is, so I want to buy it in order to see if it really IS that good (it might, it might not). Rating bumped half a point based on curiosity alone.

Azumanga Daioh
Interest Rating: 5/5

Was planning on buying the thinpak collection LAST X-Mas, but I haven't seen it since around this time last year. Honestly, I'm gonna fucking find this one day, and when I do I'm gonna buy it on-sight (unless I'm forced to choose between this and 5cm of course).

Blood: The Last Vampire
Interest Rating: 1.5/5

Since I happen to like Blood+ (despite only being able to see a handful of episodes), I'm curious on the how original movie is like. I actually learned while typing this that SciFi will show this movie next monday, so if I like it or hate it I'm gonna adjust the interest rating accordingly.

Edit: Ugh, no. It was interesting, but I didn't really like it. And I didn't realize it until it ended that it was SHORT as FUCK. Wikipedia has it as 48 minutes. 48 minutes? Screw you, that's a long episode, not a movie (it did feel like some long-lost episode instead of a full movie). And after seeing Blood+, I especially didn't like Saya: not her dub voice (horrible) or her visually (equally bad). Maybe after watching Blood+ I was expecting something along those lines. How wrong I was. Changed the 3/5 rating to a 1.5/5 (half an extra point out of pity).

Dead Leaves
Interest Rating: 4.5/5

Saw this after Blood: The Last Vampire's unexpected short ending. DID NOT KNOW what to expect, but HOLY HELL was it fun to watch. Now I'm usually a plot person, but with this movie's blazingly fast pace and sheer awesomeness I stopped caring about the plot and just had FUN. It may run just under an hour (55 minutes says Wikipedia), but unlike Blood: The Last Vampire it actually feels like a movie. Also, any movie that can remind me of the Sexy Beam (infamous Touhou doujinshi reference) automatically WINS (hence the extra half-point).

Dragon Ball Z
Interest Rating: 3/5

I already have the first season box set, and the rest are at Best Buy, so while I AM planning on buying the rest eventually, it's not exactly a priority.

Macross Plus
Interest Rating: 4/5

Now, there's a movie version and an OVA. I want the OVA. Now, I'm NOT a mecha fan AT ALL, but for some odd reason I liked this. Maybe it's because the "mecha" are fighter jets for most of the series (or at least that's what I saw, I dunno). Also, Voices happens to be one of only a handful of anime themes I've ever loved (I have it on my iPod dammit). It's a bitch to find though, although that's probably because I live in Twin Falls (honestly, I think Twin is prejudiced against the otaku community).

Naruto
Interest Rating: 3/5

Like DBZ, I both have the first box set and have seen the rest at Best Buy. Again, this series isn't a priority right now.

Negima!: Magister Negi Magi
Interest Rating: 3.5/5

Unlike other 3.5 ratings here, this is actually DOCKED a WHOLE point (the 4.5 is from that curiosity half-point again). Reason is, I want to read a few more volumes of the manga before seeing this (or thanks to Livevideo, which is a higher-quality version of YouTube, the REST of this). Good series, even if it ISN'T a faithful retelling by any means (although in a couple of instances I actually prefered the anime version). I've seen individual DVDs at Best Buy, but I'm pretty sure there's a Complete Collection out there somewhere (which is prefered).

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Interest Rating: 3.5/5

Docked two points because I have heard HORRIBLE things about the plot, character treatment and ending (all of which I care about the most in anime OR manga), but bumped back up half a point from the sheer curiosity. I saw the complete collection at Best Buy recently, but it's EXPENSIVE (over 80 bucks, almost 90?? fuuuuck). Still, I don't think most people call this the greatest anime of all time for nothing you know, so maybe in a few days (or weeks) I'll bump the rating up another half-point.

Project A-ko
Interest Rating: 4/5

For some odd reason, I actually have the first Project A-ko movie and the Grey Side/Blue Side spinoff RECORDED FROM THE SCIFI CHANNEL "SATURDAY MORNING ANIME" BLOCK FROM THE EARLY 90s. Bitches. But I REALLY want the DVD versions, and apparently there's a complete collection out there (specifically the "enhanced" version that I want). I actually docked this a point because, well, I heard the other three movies weren't really that good (although I remember seeing the second movie and found it to be at least entertaining). But it's fucking Project A-ko for damn sakes, so don't hesitate. ;)

Tenchi Universe
Interest Rating: 4/5

Best Buy actually has the complete collection, although I'm waiting on 5cm's release before I purchase it. I already have Tenchi Muyo, and Tenchi in Universe is logically next, but I'm not buying Tenchi in Tokyo since it really wasn't that good IMO.

[Sig Note: I'd include Noein here, but I recently discovered that they're releasing the complete collection late January of next year, so I'll wait for that. Also, I'd include IGPX here as well, but I'm hoping for a complete collection someday (although there ARE the two season box sets that are out - I dunno, really; it's your decision). And if you're wondering, IGPX is around a 5/5 interest rating for me. Finally, I'd put Cowboy Bebop here, but again I'm waiting for a complete collection release to pop up somewhere.]

Manga

Cheapness: 5/5 (individually), 4/5 (multiple, rating goes down further with the more you buy)
Expected Excitement: 2/5 to 5/5 (depending on rarity of books and number of books received)
Findability: 1/5 to 3/5 (good luck on finding the obscure ones without the internet)

Look at my Manga Wish List on the right for more info and for level of obscurity / want (the harder it is to find, the more I probably want it, especially Tsukihime and Tenchi Muyo, although Welcome to the N.H.K. is a fucking must-have) - and use Wikipedia to find out how many volumes are out for each series (you don't have to stop on just one volume if you don't have to - hehe).

Other

iPod Classic (80GB, black)

Cheapness: 1/5 (it's a fucking iPod)
Expected Excitement: 5/5 (it's a fucking iPod)
Findability: 5/5 (it's a fucking iPod)

I need the fucking space. Hell, I bet I can fill half of it right now. I know I already have a first-gen nano, but I'm planning on using both (one as a "favorite pack" iPod, one as a "I want to listen to something different" iPod).

Digital camera

Cheapness: 1/5 to 2/5 (depending on price)
Expected Excitement: 5/5 (I've been wanting a digital camera FOREVER)
Findability: 5/5 (maybe 4/5 if you're picky enough)

I've seen way too many "Kodak moments" to NOT want a camera. For fuck's sake somebody: GIVE ME A FUCKING CAMERA! AUGH!

Big long badass trenchcoat (preferably with an inside pocket)

Cheapness: 4/5 (possibly 3/5 since I've never actually SEEN a trenchcoat on sale before)
Expected Excitement: 6/5 (it's a motherfucking trenchcoat)
Findability: 2/5 to 4/5 (range is a guess, since I dunno how common trenchcoats with inside pockets are)

It's a fucking trenchcoat. What more do I need to say? IT'S A FUCKING TRENCHCOAT. BUY IT MOTHERFUCKER.

Gloves (preferably a pair I can wear indoors as well as outdoors)

Cheapness: 5/5 (maybe 4/5 if you try hard enough)
Expected Excitement: 3/5 (but if you're EXTREMELY lucky and find a kickass pair, 5/5)
Findability: 3/5 to 5/5 (depending on what you've got in mind when I say "indoor gloves", 1/5 for that aforementioned kickass pair, but could go up relative to your luck)

Sometimes (like now for example) my hands get fucking cold indoors, so I need gloves that don't hamper on my internet surfing time / typing time too much, but succeed in keeping my hands warm outdoors as well. And if you're very lucky and find an awesome pair that matches my trenchcoat in badassness (without losing functionality), then I'll probably hug you on the spot. Probably. >_>

Well, I think that's my list (that I remember right now). Choose whatever you want from the list, and start shopping. Tell other people you know that know me about this list, and hopefully this year I can have a "Merry Little X-Mas" (I'm thinking about the song right now - shut up). ^o^
